Traffic Comes To Standstill On I-495 For Police Activity In Virginia

Traffic came to a complete stop on I-495 in Virginia on Wednesday morning for "police activity."

Just in time for the afternoon commute, all northbound lanes in Fairfax County were temporarily closed on I-495 as of 3:20 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.

Traffic is backed up more than four miles, according to the Department of Transportation as the sea of cars continued to be held in place.

Delays extended to I-66, according to officials.

No additional details were released.
